Understanding beats memorization
I've taught in rooms where the goal was exam shortcuts. Marks go up. But the student doesn't actually know more. They memorize tricks that break down the moment the question changes.
That's not teaching. Teaching is the moment when a child finally gets it. Their posture changes. They start asking better questions. That's what I chase.
A Class 9 student asked: "Why do we need algebra?"
Wrong answer: "For the board exam." Right answer: "Every restaurant bill you split. Every budget. Every building design. It's all algebra. Once you see that, you stop asking why."
